Maritime Patrol Aviation magazine was introduced in 1988 to provide a medium for the exchange of ideas of importance to the free world on the broader aspects of Maritime Air doctrine and employment of Maritime Air Forces. Secondly, it reported on advancements in the application of Maritime Air Weapons Systems and related high-technology systems that were operational or being introduced.. Maritime Patrol Aviation was distributed to over 5200 VP International members world-wide as well as to the Senior Maritime Commanders; Squadron Commanders; Operational Control; Research and Development; Equipment Procurement and Logistics Support echelons of the Maritime forces of Australia, Japan, South Korea, Canada, Malaysia, Republic of South Africa, France, The Netherlands, Spain, Germany, New Zealand, Thailand, Greece, Norway, The United Kingdom, Indonesia, Portugal, USA, Italy and Singapore
